What is DNS? its a quiestion people often ask.
I like to think of it as a big phone book for the internet. all computers have IP addresses - these are numbers, and can be pretty hard to remember sometimes, especially when they are all so similar. also, there can be multple websites at one IP address.
so what DNS does, is it provides a lookup service, so that we only have to remember a name, such as google.com.
DNS knows where google.com is, and takes us there.
